What to do after you burnout

    • Burnout requires, first and foremost, accurately identifying what stage of burnout you're in. On the far left side of the spectrum is someone that is happy with their work and their employer or company, but for whatever reason, is maxed out. On the far right side is someone who has hit a wall that is so prounouced that it cannot be repaired. They're done with their job, employer, and/or company. It's time to move onto the next chapter. Most people struggling with burnout are somewhere between these two extremes.

    • Q1: Where are you on this continium? Be courageously honest with your answer.

The tendency for those on the far left is to blame others (job, employer, company). The tendency on the far right is to remain in an extended state of denials, dramatically elevating the cost to you, your life and career.

    • Q2: If you lean left per my example, it will be important to quickly indentify (3) things: What role have you played in your burnout? What role has your employer/company played? And what role (if any) has a given project played in your burnout? Again, be courageously honest with your answer.

What you're looking for here is the truth. The unvarnished, as though Sherlock Holmes were on the case, totally detached, truth. Such clarity alone can do wonders.

    • Q3: If you lean right per my example, it be important to quickly identify (3) things: What could the worst case scenario be if you continue to stay in denial? What could the best case scenario be if you jump on the issue immediately? How much time, if you're REALLY being honest with yourself, to you have before all hell breaks loose?

What you're looking for here is the truth. The unvarnished, as though Sherlock Holmes were on the case, totally detached, truth. Such clarity alone can do wonders.

    • Per your answers to the questions above, identify the top (3) actions you need to take over the next (30) days.

If those actions are unclear to you, circle back to this feed with what stage of burnout you're in so we can offer more informed feedback.

Decide if college will be valuable for you

    • Only you can answer that question. For some, absolutely. For others, absolutely not.

    • Document, specifically, what you want college to do for you.

Dont aimlessly wander. Identify what you want college to deliver.

    • Talk to LOTS of people of both sides of the issue

Success does not happen in a vaccum, talk to lots of people that have street cred.

    • Do some deep soul searching & make an informed decision.

Don't rush this process, too much is on the line. Go deep after you have completed the other steps.

    • Research famous college dropouts (in your field)

Pay close attention to common personalities and motivations.

    • Research famous college grads (in your field)

Like above, pay close attention to personalities and motivations.
